Eric Wright Construction has completed the first phase of a new 200,000 sq ft mixed-use commercial quarter in the heart of Blackburn.

The Blackburn Cathedral Quarter, developed by Maple Grove Developments, comprises a new six-storey BREEAM Excellent office block, 60-bed Premier Inn hotel, restaurant and car park arranged around a new piazza-style public square and transport interchange.

A new Clergy Court also provides offices, library, apartments and townhouses, together with a public refectory for the Cathedral, with these new cloister buildings being the first to be constructed in the UK for more than 600 years. (more…)

VIPS gathered for the launch event of Blackburn’s new £30 million Cathedral Quarter.

They included Bishop Julian of Blackburn, Very Reverend Christopher Armstrong, Dean of Blackburn, Cllr Mohammed Khan, Leader of the Council former MP Jack Straw now chair of Blackburn Youth Zone who officially opened the building and Harry Catherall, Chief Executive of Blackburn with Darwen Council who welcomed the crowd of around 150 dignitaries.

Taking place on Thursday, November 12 it saw a lunchtime reception for the newly constructed six-storey office building, One Cathedral Square within the new quarter. (more…)

Maple Grove Developments, part of the Eric Wright Group, has sold its 60-bedroom Premier Inn hotel and 3,500 sq ft ground floor restaurant at Blackburn Cathedral Quarter to Knight Frank Investment Management on behalf of Lancashire County Pension Fund for £4.8m, representing a net yield of 5.79 per cent.

The £16m town centre regeneration project, pioneered by Blackburn and Darwen Borough Council and Maple Grove Developments, will create a new mixed-use commercial quarter around the Cathedral fronting the railway station and a new bus interchange. (more…)

Seven families are among the first residents to move into a new affordable housing development in Bamber Bridge.

The 34 new build homes on Brindle Road are a joint venture between Maple Grove Developments, part of the Eric Wright Group, and Lancashire-based housing association Progress Housing Group. It is the first scheme to be delivered through the Lancashire Regeneration Property Partnership (LRPP) a Joint Venture between Lancashire County Council and the Eric Wright Group. (more…)

Maple Grove Developments has pre-sold its 32,000 sq ft (2,973 m²) office building at Blackburn Cathedral Quarter to Legal & General Property for £9.1m reflecting a yield of 4.6%, a record for the Town.

The office building, One Cathedral Square, is let to Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council on a 25-year head lease.

The council will not take occupation directly, instead they will let the Offices to businesses looking for Grade A Office space to meet their occupational requirements. Agents for the development are Knight Frank and Trevor Dawson and Co. (more…)

The build of a 142,000 sq ft – B2, B8 distribution unit at Wakefield Europort is a step closer after plans were approved by Wakefield Council.

The 6-acre development in Normanton, entitled Tri-Link140 LLP, is a joint venture between Leeds-based Yorvale, Kier Property, part of the Kier Group, and Maple Grove Developments, part of the Eric Wright Group.

The two-storey, 142,000 sq ft unit comprises 135,000 sq ft of warehouse space and 7,000 sq ft of office accommodation. It will accommodate 160 parking spaces for cars and HGVs and 13 dock-level loading doors, with two level access doors.

The development, which is located nearby junction 31 of the M62, provides unrivalled commuter links. Adjacent occupiers include DHL and TK Maxx. (more…)

Maple Grove Developments and property development company, Yorvale, have sold a site in the centre of York to McLaren Property, the real estate development and investment division of the McLaren Construction Group.

Located on York’s Hallfield Road, the site has planning consent for a 326 unit student accommodation scheme, which will be delivered by Maple Grove’s sister company, Eric Wright Construction.

The scheme will comprise two blocks, each with four storeys, providing high quality en-suite accommodation. Eric Wright Construction will start on site in March for an 18-month programme, due to complete in time for the 2016/17 academic year student intake. (more…)
