Maple Grove Developments, part of the Eric Wright Group, has secured planning for the new AEW-designed £18million Pioneer Place leisure and retail scheme in Burnley, Greater Manchester.

Funded by Burnley Borough Council with support from Lancashire County Council, the 36,477 sq ft leisure-led scheme is anchored by an eight-screen Reel Cinema, as well as restaurants, bars, retail units, a public realm and a 125-space car park. Smith & Love Planning Consultants advised Maple Grove on the planning application. (more…)

Insider’s Property Power 100 recently revealed who they thought had the biggest impact in the North West region. The feature gave a snapshot of how Insider sees the world of North West property right now and the Eric Wright Group were lucky enough to have two of its team members ranked.

To arrive at the list, Insider invited nominations, trawled through back issues as well as news reports for the new deals and developments.

The power brokers, in which Eric Wright, Chairman of the Eric Wright Group placed at number 12, are the industry stalwarts, the figureheads and the inspirational leaders. Joint venture developers Trebor and Maple Grove Developments, have held a ground breaking ceremony with local dignitaries to mark the official start of construction on site at a new, speculative, industrial scheme in Deeside, North Wales.

Ken Skates, North Wales Minister for the Economy and Transport, Chris Wheeler (Property Surveyor) at Welsh Government, Glen Cooke (Trebor Development’s Project Management Director) joined Eric Wright Construction on site. The scheme, which is grant aided via Welsh Government will comprise three, speculative, high-quality, industrial units measuring, 10,000 sq ft, 24, 000 sq ft and 50,000 sq ft. Downtown in Business celebrated the very best of the Red Rose county at the annual Lancashire Business Awards on Thursday 20th June 2019.  The event comprised a spectacular gala dinner to celebrate the best of the Lancashire Business community, during which Eric Wright Group were absolutely delighted to have been awarded ‘Property Business of the Year 2019’.

Maple Grove Developments, part of the Eric Wright Group, has been selected by Blackburn with Darwen Council as the preferred development partner for the former markets’ site in Blackburn town centre.

Following the demolition of the covered market building in 2013, the 3.75-acre site is currently used as a public car park. Designed by DLA Architecture, the proposal is for a retail-led mixed-use scheme which will help to strengthen Blackburn’s existing shopping offer by providing a small number of large retail floorplates in the town centre. Jim Carter, Deputy Chair of the Eric Wright Group Limited and Chairman of Maple Grove Developments Limited, has been appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Lancashire.

Jim will join the existing team of Deputies who help and support the Lord-Lieutenant in his duties as Her Majesty The Queen’s representative in the county of Lancashire.

A Master of Laws and a Fellow of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Jim has been with the Eric Wright Group since 1986.   (more…)

Car showroom Autolab and retailer Home Bargains will each take space at Wainwright Way, Blackburn, after agreeing terms with the development arm of the Eric Wright Group.

The sales of the two parcels of land were facilitated under a development agreement Maple Grove has with Blackburn with Darwen Council.

Prestige and custom car specialist Autolab has agreed to buy a 0.84-acre site, which fronts King Street and Freckleton Street, to develop a new car showroom and sales operation on the town centre side of Wainwright Way. The locally-based business is using the new location to facilitate its expansion. (more…)

I have been involved in Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce Property and Construction Group for four years since 2015. At the time I was working as Development Director at Salford City Council and was asked to join the group to bring in a public sector angle.
