The scheme consists of a Booths supermarket, retail units for Argos and Fat Face, a new city centre car park a new health and fitness club and 21 apartments.

Working with Harrogate Borough Council, a range of site acquisition methods were adopted by Maple Grove in order to piece together this complicated site, which was in multiple ownerships. These included outright and unconditional purchases, options and the compulsory purchase of plots of land and the relocation of various voluntary organisations in order to finally make this scheme a long awaited reality.

The scheme was designed to reflect the range of materials and finishes found in the buildings within Ripon’s conservation area. On the back of the sensitive approach taken, the scheme won the Ripon Civic Society’s Best New Building 2009 Award.
